In 2014 Wilsons stardom exploded across the pond in a greater way by announcing her participation in Showtimes The Affair as Alison Lockhart who is a young, troubled woman who has a past of dark that falls in love with a married man named Noah Solloway. Wilson received an award for her performance, the Golden Globe award for Best Actress for a Television Series Drama, alongside Mauratierney and Joshua Jackson. Wilson told British Vogue, "I loved playing a character with two sides to the story." Noah believes that Alison is this confident, sexy and reckless self-image. But she sees herself completely differently, which on the outside is dull and hidden in shadows, unwilling to make a statement. Wilson added that she does think America is morally skewed and so judgmental that what takes place in the show appears to be a shock. In the year 2018, Wilson quit her show in the midst of surprise of fans however she was vague on the information. I wanted to leave, but I don't have the authority to explain the reason. In an interview on CBS This Morning conducted in August 2018. Wilson has now turned her attention to film. In 2016 she starred in the horror film I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House and in 2017 as the mysterious PT Stella in the sci-fi romance How to Talk to Girls at Parties. Adding more of the terror genre to her film credits she is set to be a part of the British film version to The Little Stranger a supernatural thriller which is based on a novel by author Sarah Waters. Wilson will also produce the film.
